She didn’t know why everything felt so overwhelming.


The sound of her phone buzzing made her flinch. A casual conversation left her drained. Her chest always felt tight, like she was bracing for something, but for what, she didn’t know.


Her nervous system was dysregulated, but those weren’t words she had yet.


All she knew was that her heart raced often, sleep didn’t come easily, and even small decisions felt big. She couldn’t relax.


Couldn’t focus. Couldn’t stop the loop of “What’s wrong with me?”


One day, someone gently introduced her to the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique.

She started using it when the world felt loud. When her thoughts spiraled. When her body said danger but there was none.


And little by little, her body began to feel safe.


Her breath slowed. Her sleep deepened.


She learned to listen to her nervous system rather than fight it.


That’s the thing: our healing doesn’t happen in giant leaps. It happens in small, grounded moments where our body relearns safety. Relearns peace.
